Hot in travel: the best videos from around the world this week

This week saw headlines dominated by the Paris Climate Summit as well as the British Parliament’s vote for airstrikes in Syria. It was not all bad news however, as celebrities came out in support of World Aid’s Day and one herd of elephants helped one of their little ones. Here are our highlights from the videos of the week.

A baby elephant that fell into a water-hole in South Africa’s Kruger National Park was captured seriously struggling to get out of the mud and onto the bank where the rest of the herd was waiting for it. Its mother was by its side to help it. Eventually with the helpful trunk and some team effort, the elephant cub was brought to safety. Precious.

An unlikely tale of friendship was revealed last week when a video showing a goat and a Siberian tiger paling around went up on Youtube. Timur the billy goat and Amur the deadly Siberian Tiger have made an strange bond of friendship in the Far Eastern Safari Park at Shkotovsky in Russia. The pair hang around together, eat together, and Amur has even given up his sleeping place to Timur.

President Obama visited the Bataclan theatre with President Hollande Image by Screengrab from Youtube

US President Barack Obama was in Paris to attend the much-anticipated Paris Climate Summit this week. After arriving in Paris he and President Francois Hollande visited the the Bataclan theatre where 89 of the Paris attacks victims were killed. Mr Obama placed a single white rose on the commemorative pile of flowers.

Madonna marked World AIDs Day during her concert in London

On Monday Madonna gave an emotional speech to honour  World Aid’s Day at her packed concert in The O2 in London. Speaking of friends from the music industry and of the family of her adopted son, Madonna reminded people of the huge efforts that had gone into turning Aids into a disease you die with and not from.
