The newly restored Trevi Fountain is lit during the official inauguration in Rome, Tuesday, 3 November. The historical fountain, famed as a setting for the film “La Dolce Vita” and the place where dreamers leave their coins, reopened after a 17-months restoration financed by the Fendi fashion house.

One of Italy’s most beloved attractions, the reopening of the fountain following renovations attracted hundreds of tourists to the structure, which was originally finished in 1762. The €2.2 million restoration was paid for by the Fendi fashion house, which is based in Rome.

The empty structure of the fountain was still open to tourists while the renovations were underway. Trevi fountain is the location of a well-known traveller’s legend: it’s believed that tossing a coin over your shoulder and into the fountain will mean that you will one day return.

Northern lights will wow areas of North America this week.

AccuWeather predicts that areas of Canada and the Northern US will be able to view the cosmic light where there are clear skies. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Weather Prediction Centre in the US issued a notice of geomagnetic storm activity, which causes Aurora borealis.

The visibility will be good from New Hampshire to Nebraska and in the US. Areas along the North Pacific and Midwest will have fair conditions for viewing, while much of Canada will face poor visibility.

The lights may also be visible in Northern Europe.

Harapan the rhino has arrived at the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary in the Way Kambas National Park of Indonesia.

Harapan was the only Sumatran rhino in the Western hemisphere, where he lived at the Cincinnati Zoo, but was moved to Indonesia to breed.

The Sumatran rhino is critically endangered.

There are only about 100 Sumatran rhinos left in the world, according to the zoo, and nine live in captivity. The rest are scattered throughout Southeast Asia, which makes it difficult for them to breed.
