A new exhibition at Pompeii will display the casts of 20 victims of the AD 79 eruption of Vesuvius that destroyed the Roman city. The casts, which were taken from the imprints that the victims’ bodies left in the volcanic ash that engulfed them, have been restored and are incredibly detailed, in some cases even showing the victims’ clothing, hairstyles and facial expressions. They will be on display in a specially designed pyramid structure in the amphitheatre at Pompeii until 2 November. Read more: ansa.it
