Dubbed Cardamom Club, as it sits on a 500-square-metre area amidst a Cardamom plantation, the accommodation was designed by Kumar La Noce architecture firm. The boutique resort includes five independent cabins, an outdoor pool with adjacent stepped decks and a spa block divided into three interconnected volumes on raised stilts. The 40-square-metre cabins feature floor to ceiling wood-framed openings that have been designed to enhance the impact of the stunning views, while also ensuring privacy between units for the guests. Spacious decks are included in an effort to fully immerse people in the experience as they gaze out on the surrounding plantation.

“The setting is discrete and features spectacular views of the hilly landscape around. The property is close to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, it is not uncommon to spot a herd of Asian elephants or bison and various other exotic flora and fauna. The culinary experience at the Cardamom Club is crafted to enhance the discovery of local produce and spices, mostly grown on the property,” said Bhavana Kumar, Principal Architect at Kumar La Noce.

Each structure is light, with the floating cabins designed so that they do not disturb the natural environment in which they have been placed and have been built from red hardwood sourced from sustainably managed plantations. The interiors feature hand crafted teak wood and rattan furniture with rice paper light fixtures, as well as en suite bathrooms with locally sourced black granite counters and shower areas with porthole windows looking out on the lush expanses. Prices start at 5,440.00 Indian rupees ($83) for one night.
