A team from Google Street View has completed the first ever virtual trek around the Everest region, based on 45,000 panoramic images of the high Himalaya. A team of trekkers and photographers, led by the celebrated Nepali mountaineer Apa Sherpa, trekked for weeks through the Himalaya to collect the images, using a backpack-mounted version of the car-mounted camera used to collect Street View images elsewhere in the world.
