If you like to take in a round of golf while on vacation, you could soon be playing on a course on the Caribbean island of St Lucia designed by a sporting icon of the 1980s and 1990s. Australian professional golfer and entrepreneur, Greg Norman, is spearheading the transformation plans for the course at Sandals St Lucia Golf & Country Club at Cap Estate, and the company believes that it could be ready in 12-14 months.

The 18-hole golf course will be the newest addition to the Sandals brand on the island, having acquired St Lucia Golf and Country Club last year. It is already considered to rank among the most challenging golf courses in the Caribbean, and it will be now be converted into a new, international standard championship golf course.

The redesign will be overseen by Greg Norman Golf Course Design, who previously created the award-winning golf course at Sandals Emerald Bay and the CuisinArt Golf Club in Anguilla. As someone who spent 331 weeks as the world’s number one ranked golfer in the Official World Golf Rankings, Greg is perfectly placed to put all of his international experience into the design. “This golf course is a diamond in the rough and we are thrilled and honoured that Sandals has asked our design firm to bring it to life,” he says.
