Some have called the new vacancy for someone to explore the UK by rail and inter-rail around Europe during the summer Britain’s best part-time job. National Rail certainly believes it is, and it’s offering the successful candidate £10K to become its ‘chief adventure officer.’

This part-time job will see one lucky applicant get paid to vlog their way around the UK using a 16-25 Railcard, along with one of their friends. Railcards, which are managed by National Rail on behalf of the train companies, help customers to save a third on most rail fares in Britain.

During the year, the public will be given the chance to vote for the locations and activities the new recruit experiences. These could be anything from gyroplaning in Carlisle, going on the UK’s longest zipwire in Snowdonia, and uncovering hidden gems on a graffiti tour of Bristol. And because National Rail also works in partnership with the train companies in Europe, the successful candidate will also find themselves inter-railing around Europe in the summer.

“Our new chief adventure officer needs to be someone who lives to discover new places, and has a desire to share their experiences with others,” says Jyoti Bird, director at National Rail. “They need to be adventurous, passionate about travel and good at creating content so they can bring their journeys to life for others.”
If you’re aged between 16-25 or are a mature student, and think you’ve got what it takes for the position, all you need to do is create a 60-second video about your last trip and submit it before 11 February 2018.
