Surf lifesavers on patrol at Perth’s Scarborough Beach were able to rescue all 20 swimmers who were suddenly pulled out to sea by a flash rip on Thursday. The swimmers, including some children, were rescued after they were caught in the fast moving water. City of Stirling’s beach services coordinator, John Snook said,’Scarborough Beach does experience a large number of rips and certainly can be quite dangerous for inexperienced swimmers. Mass rescues aren’t everyday occurrences.’ No one required medical attention after the rescue but people were certainly shaken and exhausted from the ordeal. It proved a timely reminder to check conditions and always swim between the flags on surf lifesaver patrolled beaches in Australia. Read more: abc.net.au
