A giant squid weighing 150kg and measuring 10 metres has been hauled in by fishermen off the coast of Asturia in northern Spain.
The deep seas around the Bay of Biscay are thought to be ideal territory for the huge species, which is believed to be the inspiration for Greek myths. In the past few years, about 30 of the giant squids have been caught in the Asturian waters which has led to the establishment of a Giant Squid Centre in the town of Valdés.
