Parents in the Italian Alpine village of Antey-St-André have reacted angrily after a sermon given by the local priest left their children thinking that Santa wasn’t real.

The parents tried to ‘save Christmas’ by dressing up as elves, giving out sweets and chanting ‘we are the elves of Babbo Natale (Father Christmas)’. The town’s mayor Mario Bertuletti said: ‘It was rather absurd.’ He claimed that the priest was just trying to explain the difference between Jesus Christ and Father Christmas.
