A family of tourists in New Zealand had to charter a plane to continue their travels after a local motorist confiscated their car keys near Franz Josef. The driver saw the tourists travelling on the wrong side of the road so he took their keys and popped them under the local police station’s door. The car rental company subsequently cancelled their rental contract. All accommodation in the town was booked out so the family chartered a plane to get to their next destination. The rental driver was issued an infringement notice by the police. This is not the first time a local witnessing dangerous driving in New Zealand has taken matters into their own hands.
