As the political crisis in the Maldives continues, provacateurs have planted a series of fake bombs around the capital, Male.
At least three devices have been discovered in the city in the last 24 hours, left near strategic sites such as the Male port complex and the city’s main power plant. The devices, made from mobile phones, computer circuit boards and electrical wires, have been declared harmless, but a cache of weapons is missing from the state armory, and a viable bomb made from dynamite was discovered on Monday and defused. Meanwhile, international observers have condemned the imposition of emergency rule in the Maldives as a party political manoeuvre. Read more: maldivesindependent.com
