Italy’s six-month-long Expo 2015 festival kicks off today just outside Milan with a televised opening ceremony featuring a speech by Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and a fly-past by the Italian Air Force’s aerobatics team. The Expo focuses on the themes of cuisine and sustainable nutrition, and the huge site includes pavilions representing more than 140 countries. The festival is central to Italy’s economic recovery plan, and the organisers hope that it will attract around 20 million visitors. Read more: ansa.it
