London is one of the world’s most bustling cities and has been for centuries. But despite the historic buildings that still stand to this day, the modern-day metropolis looks quite different than it did 100 years ago. Thankfully, anyone interested in seeing just how the city has evolved through the decades can check out a new interactive map from Expedia. The travel company has used Google Street View footage and historic images to compare fourteen different areas of London, showing the amazing changes in iconic spots like Oxford Street.
Historic London by Expedia.co.uk
“London is a bustling metropolis that has evolved massively in recent decades. But, if we look close enough, it’s also bursting with original historic architecture that we could easily miss. This is why the team at Expedia UK have put together this unique Google Street View tour of the capital’s most iconic streets – they wanted to give people the opportunity to see just how (albeit subtly), London’s neon-lit streets of today still marry up beautifully with the architectural touches of decades gone by,” said an Expedia spokesperson in a statement.
