Just as the fishing season was about to start, California officials have warned people not to eat the very popular Dungeness crabs and rock crabs until further notice.
High levels of domoic acid have been found in sample crabs caught along the West Coast which can lead to vomiting and headache in less severe cases, and coma and death in the most severe. Local crab fishers have been warned that the fishing season, due to begin on Saturday, could be delayed in the interests of public safety. Read more: sfgate.com
