Instagram-worthy confectionery has been having a moment ever since the social network has existed, but there’s always a constant battle to outdo the craziest concoctions ever made. New York bakeries are normally at the forefront of the movement, with rainbow bagels, macaronuts and lavender ice cream, but this time, it seems the Big Apple has been beaten to the punch at the forefront of the doughnut trend.

Seemingly originating in Toronto as an adaptation of a traditional Hungarian dessert, doughnut cones have been popping up around the world. London doughnut company Dum Dum are starting to sell their version, the Crone, from tomorrow, Thursday 30th June at 11.30am in the Future of Retail Store in Camden’s Stables Market – and as a bonus, the first 50 customers in line will get a free Crone.

But is it possible that Dublin doughnut shop Aungier Danger has gone one better and released the most outrageous doughnut cone of all? The Dangercone consists of their famous Red Velvet Crime Scene donut shaped as a cone filled with rich Belgian white chocolate with strawberry sauce and grated Red Velvet on top.

Wherever you are in the world, seek one of these bad boys out – they’re the next big thing in desserts, we promise.
