The discovery of human remains by Spanish climbers in New Zealand’s Aoraki-Mt Cook National Park last week could solve a 42-year-old mystery, say park rangers. DNA tests will hopefully confirm the deceased’s identity but Department of Conservation (DoC) rangers believe this may be a 19-year-old man who went missing after an avalanche swept him and his companion away in 1973.
