Staying in farms is the basic characteristic of agro-tourism, which is often accompanied by active participation in farm-work. The reference point of holidays on a farm-hostel is the direct contact the visitor has with farm-life, cultivations, nature, fauna and flora – an event that is priceless for the greater percentage of the contemporary European citizen and resident in an urban center. And in this manner the visitor has the opportunity to actively contribute to theprotection of the natural environment andcultural heritage.

The first Greek network of traditional and agro-tourist accommodation has already been created, and a member of the EuroGites European Agro-Tourism Federation, for the purpose of promoting the greater part of the Greek countryside and in order to better serve the visitor.
