Can bricks float? Yes they can at this LEGO exhibition in Hamburg!

The LEGO exhibition known as Floating Bricks will be bobbing its way around Hamburg on 17 and 18 March. The event is organised by a LEGO fan community, known as Stein Hanse, and will display impressive constructions at Altona’s Cruise Center.

The presentation displays LEGO creations made by fans of all ages, and from all around the world. A huge range of LEGO genres – from architecture to Star Wars – will be represented. And there will be a special attraction this year in the form of a giant mosaic of the Elbphilharmonie which was successfully constructed by last year’s visitors.

Come prepared to participate as visitors will be invited to take part in dynamic activities throughout the exhibition. During the course of the two days, a collective construction of Der Michel – one of Hamburg’s classic monumental churches – will be created. A small section of the whole building will also be erected with help of a detailed construction plan.

There will also be a racecourse area with remote controlled vehicles, intended for children, but we reckon if you ask nicely, adults might be allowed in on the fun too. Or, an even more competitive option – there will be a race to see who can build a mini Elbphilharmonie the fastest. Designed to poke fun at how long it took for the real deal to reach completion…

If you’re just happy to be there, make sure you don’t miss the chance to forever immortalise yourself with a LEGO brick on the visitors’ map.
