Road travel in Sicily looks set to be severely disrupted for up to two years, following damage to a crucial motorway bridge caused by a landslide last Friday. Engineers have concluded the Himera viaduct on Sicily’s A19 motorway will have to be demolished and rebuilt. In the meantime drivers will have to use alternative roads and the time it takes to drive between Sicily’s main cities of Palermo and Catania will increase by an hour. Read more: ansa.it
