A pair of Denver bookshop employees have poured several years worth of savings into what they hope will become a Rocky Mountain retreat for hikers, artists and readers interested in the region’s cultural and geographical landscape. Supported by a grant from a naturalist organization, the pair found an abandoned ranch called Buffalo Peaks just two hours from Denver and began making plans to renovate the ranch’s battered buildings. The Rocky Mountain Land Library will sit at 10,000ft above sea level and will be stocked with over 32,000 books that range from topics including beekeeping, wildlife sketches and fiction.
