The European Commission is currently investigating a complaint by a Belgian that tourists to Venice are forced to pay significantly more for tickets and services than local residents. The example given in the complaint is a family of four, who take a vaporetto waterbus, visit the Doge’s Palace, go to the toilet twice and surf the internet. Whilst a family of tourists would pay a total of €136 for this, a family of Venetians would spend just €12. According to EU law, all EU citizens must be treated equally. Read more: thelocal.it
