Police in Bangladesh have arrested an armed man and are searching for a second man after a bomb and gun attack on a Hindu temple in Dinajpur.
Two people were injured in the assault, which came just five days after a similar bomb attack on Dinajpur’s Kantaji temple and just weeks after the assassination of a Hindu priest in the same area. Following a string of attacks on foreigners, secular bloggers and Shia Muslims, the anti-Hindu bombings paint a worrying picture of escalating Islamist violence in a country that is already struggling with corruption, poverty and the effects of climate change.
