A heavily pregnant and highly-venomous eastern brown snake had been nesting under the fridge to get away from the brutal heat that’s being experienced across Australia.

The woman got a fright when she observed the snake peering at her from under the fridge. The snake was moved from under the fridge by snake-handler Rolly Burrell, and later it laid 15 eggs.

“It’s lucky she saw the snake now or she might have been going to the fridge to get a drink later on and seen all these little critters all over the place,” Burrell commented to the Guardian.

The snake has been given mice and water and will later be released back into the wild.
