It’s been around since the 1930s but in recent years Alaska Airlines has seen such a surge in its popularity that the expanding company has decided its planes need a makeover.

The Seattle-based company has been known for the Eskimo’s head that has graced the tail fins of its planes since 1976 and decided to freshen up the emblematic face, rather than remove it altogether. The new look allows the image to work better on mobile devices and, along with some modifications to the word Alaska, are part of a new slicker design that will be rolled out across the company’s fleet over the next couple of years.
