A minimalist adventure hotel has opened in Stockholm, and it has 494 guest rooms that range from smart ‘sleep cabins’ to spacious suites offering amazing views over the city.
If you’re coming with a group, Downtown Camper by Scandic has 16 suites that cater for six to 12 people, with adjoining rooms and common living and dining spaces. It’s aimed at urban travellers, and despite the minimalist interior, there are plenty of luxurious and unusual touches in the hotel. This includes a reception area that has canoes hanging from the ceiling and a wood-burning stove that takes centre stage in the communal area.
The hotel is located in Brunkebergstorg, in the heart of the city in one of Stockholm’s most unexplored urban neighbourhoods. Downtown Camper is within walking distance from the Central Station and just around the corner from shopping, restaurants, parks, concert halls, theatres and museums.
The hotel has five creative spaces, including a games room and 25-seater cinema. Hotel guests can take part in daily activities that range from running and yoga to wellness workshops and inspirational talks.
Other features include The Nest, which is a rooftop wellness centre. It looks like a bird’s nest, hence the name, and has experience showers as well as a sauna, gym and pool.
The hotel has a “lifestyle concierge” to connect guests with its local community of local personalities and partners. “We’ve created a hotel for the curious traveller or Stockholmer who not only wants unique experiences but also contributes to creating them,” says general manager, Jacob Dahlberg.
“Downtown Camper has a modern, playful interior inspired by nature and the concrete jungle of the surrounding neighbourhood. It is designed to provide opportunities for spontaneous interaction and togetherness, creative meetings and getting away from it all”
