As Hamilton-madness spreads to another US city, one Chicago hotel will let travellers book the room where it happens – a hotel package that includes tickets to the hit Broadway musical.

 

 

The Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical about American founding father Alexander Hamilton is a sensation in New York and will begin a run in Chicago, starting on 27 September at the PrivateBank Theatre.

 

Hundreds of people waited in line to buy tickets when they went on sale on 21 June, while others tried their best to purchase tickets from a very busy website.  The immense popularity of the show means premium tickets can cost as much as $600, reports the Chicago Tribute, and can cost thousands of dollars on secondary selling sites.

 

But the new Conrad Chicago Hotel, which is opening in September, has scored some tickets and is offering a night of dinner and theatre – starting at a price of $3,100. The package includes two tickets to Hamilton, accommodation in a premium suite, and $150 dinner credit to the hotel’s classic American restaurant, which specializes in bourbon and whiskey.

 

This isn’t the first time a hotel has sweetened the deal with impossible-to-get Hamilton tickets – the W New York – Times Square offered a similar package.

 

 

But, if you don’t have $3100 to drop on a room and a show, travellers are flocking to Hamilton-related historic sites around New York and New Jersey.
