A new package for dogs will see your pet being pampered in the French Alps

Leaving your furry pal behind when you’re off on holidays can be hard, but a chalet company in the French Alps is making dogs the guests of honour with a new package dedicated to canine holiday indulgence. More Mountain, an independent chalet based in Morzine, has launched its Alpine Pups package, which is designed to take care of dogs on holiday with their humans.

The package is inspired by the company’s own Figsy the Fox Terrier, and they say that Morzine is a friendly town that warmly welcomes man’s best friend across its community of shops, restaurants and bars. With seasonal variations, the package welcomes doggy guests to join their owners during both winter ski/snowboard holidays and summer mountain retreats. Dogs love riding the gondolas and trotting the scenic routes, and exploring the region’s oasis of hidden trails, winding paths and beautiful natural lakes in the summer. Then there’s the snow-covered peaks and winter wonderland valley walks during the winter.

The Alpine Pups package provides advice on bringing your dog to France, including requirements like pet passports and microchipping. There’s a cosy bed, towel, and food and water bowls, and your dog gets a quilted waterproof dog jacket worth £50, natural chicken baked biscuits and a doggy toy to take home. A guide to local dog-friendly walks and other activities for you and your pooch is provided, and one dog walk is taken care of, for the day when people-oriented mountain activities come first.

The chalet company has partnered with British dog product specialists, Mutts & Hounds, to provide a selection of products, treats and accessories for dogs staying at selected apartments at The Petit Farmhouse, Apartment Central, Super Morzine, Waterside and Terrasse Du Soleihe. These dog-friendly apartments have fully-enclosed gardens and secure terraces, and are close to great walks and opportunities to let your dog roam free.

“There’s so much opportunity for guests staying with us to share precious holiday time with their dogs – whether that’s frolicking in the snow, tackling the ultimate mountain hike, or curling up together in front of the fire inside,” says Sam Thomas, co-owner of More Mountain. “As dog-owners ourselves, we know that they’re very much part of the family and should feature in our happiest times.”

Each dog-friendly apartment can accommodate one dog up to 20kg. Accommodating two small dogs in one apartment is at the discretion of More Mountain. The Alpine Pups package costs an additional €150 for a week’s stay for one dog. For more information or to book, visit here.
